Aug-15-2008 Random Freak-out Over Ralph Lauren’s Olympic Uniforms
While we spent our Friday night with eyes glazed over, mesmerized by the spectacle that is the Olympics (so many colors!), others were taking issue with the uniforms Ralph Lauren designed for U.S. team members to wear READ MORE

Aug-15-2008 Hockey on horseback: St. Louis club introduces polo for the masses
DEFIANCE, Mo. — At the Blue Heron Polo Club, eight riders blaze down the field, their horses' hooves thundering beneath them.read more In a game that's been compared to hockey on horseback, riders from two teams guide their mounts in quick and physical play. Mallets poised to strike, they twist over the animals to drive a 125-gram ball through posts at either end of a playing area the size of nine football fields. The ball flies through the air toward its target - GOAL!

Aug-15-2008 Wyo polo match brings top players
There won't be a better match in Wyoming all year. In fact, Sunday's contest may be the highest quality polo match in the entire United States this summer. And you don't have to be Edward Lewis or Vivian Ward to see it. "Polo gets the reputation of being a rich-man's sport and people think of Pretty Woman, the movie," said Roger Bent, executive director of the Downtown Sheridan Association. "There'll be some extremely high-society, wealthy people out there, but you won't be able to pick them out." But they'll be there with good reason. The second annual Goose Creek Benefit Cup exhibition match takes place Sunday at the Flying H Polo Club in Big Horn and will feature some of the top polo players in the world. "It'll be all professionals, whereas the matches (here usually) have two pros and two sponsors on each side," said Boone Stribling, polo director at Flying H. "It'll be an all-pro game so it'll be a lot faster and there won't be so many balls or goals missed." read more

Aug-15-2008 Polo players descend on the Valley
NEW CASTLE, Colorado — Barry Stout knows that polo isn’t the easiest thing to understand. To him, it’s as complicated as a chess match, a combination of soccer and golf — and horses. And he loves it. As he put it, “It’s quite a game, polo.” This weekend, he’s hoping to host quite a match. Like every year for the last four, he and the Hotel Colorado are teaming up to present the Devereux Cup, a day of polo matches sanctioned by the United States Polo Association. At the end of these, either Team Azteca, Team Roaring Fork or Team Hotel Colorado will have the honor of having their name added to the actual Devereux cup. Now on display at the hotel’s authentic polo bar, the cup is named after

Aug-11-2008 Polo boost for church
HORSEPLAY is set to help raise money for a church which is in need of restoration work. Money raised by a polo match this weekend will be added to the funds of All Saints' Church in Sancton, and will be used to re-hang the existing bells in the tower. The game will be played at Houghton Hall and churchwarden Jim Reckitt hopes the one-off event will boost funds. READ MORE

Aug-06-2008 PET DEER AT POLO FARM SHOT AND KILLED
It's a story that plays out like a classic Disney film. A young deer left on his own without his mother. “He thought he was one of them,” said Meadow Hill Polo Farm manager, Barb UsKup. “We went out to feed and we saw this little fawn looking like, "help me, help me." The workers and horses of Meadow Hill Polo Farm had a new guest. “We weren't quite sure what to do about it,” said UsKup. “We tried to leave the gate open and we tried to chase him out but he wasn't having any of leaving this property. He'd found his home and ever since that day he's been apart of the family.” They named him Bambi.

Aug-06-2008 Friday-night lights  Glenn Watterson III, 33, of Darlington.
DARLINGTON — Come Friday night, lights shine above a humble dirt field along Polo Road in Darlington. For 71 summers, they have lit up the lives of young and old as people come to see the passion that plays out, at a place where players ride horses at 35 mph and try to hit a 3˝-inch-diameter ball with the end of a wooden mallet that isn’t much bigger than a broom handle. Glenn Robert Watterson helped get it started back in 1937. His son, Glenn Watterson II of Darlington AND VIDEO
